Vince Vaughn Chicago Sighting

Vince Vaughn is shooting a tv pilot in Chicago. I know I've said this before but so cool how he tries to incorporate his hometown in his projects. Today he was in the suburb of Des Plaines filming in a restaurant. He will be directing but not starring in the pilot.

Patrick Fugit in Debra Messng Pilot

One of my favorite parts of Cameron Crowe's movie, Almost Famous, was Patrick Fugit playing the teenage Rolling Stone reporter (based on Cameron Crowe's experience). Well, he is joining the ABC pilot, Wright v Wrong, with Will & Grace's Debra Messing. Sounds pretty cool.

Oscar Wrap-up In Brief

Just a few comments about last night's Oscar Awards:

* Neil Patrick Harris' opening number: While I think he is talented and has a good stage presence/voice I thought his opening number was kinda "meh" - bring back Billy Crystal!

* Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were very funny in their monologue and there were some funny lines throughout the show - not as over the top as I would have hoped, but funny nonetheless.

* Ben Stiller dressed in Avatar garb and speaking the Navi "language": 50% cringe-inducing and 50% funny.

* Overall look and feel of the show: The show didn't seem as "grand" as past Oscars. It had a living room/cabaret feel to the set and stage which the producers likely did on purpose to create an "intimate" feel, but it came across as a bit cheap looking and not "Oscar worthy".

* Sandra Bullock: Great speech - good for her!

Lenny Kravitz on the Oscars Red Carpet

Wow. He is one of the stars of multi nominated film Precious. He just talked to Ryan Seacrest and said he is touring with U2 this summer for some dates and his new album is coming out in the fall. Yeah!

Possible Simon & Garfunkel U.S. Tour

How cool would that be? There is word out there that Simon & Garfunkel may be launching a U.S. tour. Wild. Check it out.

Another new release, Brooklyn's Finest, starring Don Cheadle, Richard Gere, Ethan Hawke and Wesley Snipes, came in at no. 2 with over $13 million.

In its 3rd weekend in release, Shutter Island came in at no. 3 with just over $13 million. In just 17 days in release it has taken in more than $95 million domestically and $130 million worldwide. Check out all the movies here.

Pilot based on Scott Turow Book!

Scott Turow's thriller of a book, Pleading Guilty, is the basis for a new pilot on Fox. The show "centers on Mack (Isaacs), a cop-turned-attorney described as "a big handsome Irish hunk" who is assigned to investigate the disappearance of the firm's star litigator. " Another cool idea for a series. Did you read Pleading Guilty back in 1993? Or his first book, Presumed Innocent, back in 1987?

Blair Underwood Returning to TV!

Blair Underwood, one of my all time favorite actors, has joined the NBC pilot, The Event. The show is described as, "a thriller chronicled from multiple points of view that centers on Sean (Jason Ritter), a regular man fighting his way through the mysterious circumstances of a conspiracy to assassinate the U.S. president (Underwood)." Sounds interesting.
