Saturday, April 24, 2010

If Only...

Saturday, April 24, 2010

By Claire

they had this when I was in school. Have you heard about the new smartpen? It's a writing instrument combined with a digital audio recorder, such that, when you are taking notes and miss a word (which always happened to me) it can play back the word that you missed. In addition, the audio recording can be uploaded to a website accessed by other computers, converted into a pdf, and the list goes on. How amazing is that?

New TV Pilots

Saturday, April 24, 2010

By Claire

Lots of new tv pilots are in the works for next season and they are sounding good. Highlights include, (but are not limited to): Love Bites, from Cindy Chupack a writer from Sex and the City; new versions of Hawaii Five-0 and Rockford Files; Wright vs. Wrong a show starring Debra Messing; Next, semi-autobiographical show from Paul Reiser; J.J. Abrams' Undercovers; and David E. Kelley's legal drama Kindrids. Will you be watching any of these? For more shows in the works, click here.

Chicago Blackhawks Win in OT!

Saturday, April 24, 2010

By Claire

What a game - game 5 of the first round of the playoffs- this afternoon! The Blackhawks had the lead 3 to 1 against the Nashville Predators. Then, they fell behind 4 to 3 and with only 13 seconds left in regulation, Patrick Kane scored a goal to tie it up. A few minutes into overtime, Marion Hossa scored the winning goal. Unbelievable. It does not get too much more wild. Any Blackhawks fan who left the game early must be seriously bumming.

Chicago Blackhawks

Saturday, April 17, 2010

By Claire

I went to the first playoffs game between the Blackhawks and the Nashville Predators last night. The crowd was awesome and the energy in the United Center was incredible - the Chicago Cubs were there to support as well - but unfortunately they did not come off with the expected win. This first round of the playoffs has seen lots of upsets in the first game as the Washington Capitals, New Jersey Devils and the Pittsburgh Penguins - expected to be victorious - all lost their first game as well. Should be a very interesting first round of the playoffs.

Damages

Saturday, April 17, 2010

By Claire

Monday night is the 90 minute season finale of Damages and it looks full of surprises. It's all going to come together and get torn apart in another epic season. Patty has been more vulnerable this season which has made it particularly fascinating. Ellen and Tom managing to control her is something to behold. The Tobin family manipulating each other - all driven by the money- never ceases to amaze. Have you been watching?

Miramax

Saturday, April 17, 2010

By Claire

In an interesting twist, it is looking like Harvey and Bob Weinstein are taking back Miramax, the movie company they founded in 1979 and then sold in 1993. Some of their breakthrough films in the 1980s and 1990s included Clerks, Sex, Lies and Videotape, and The Crying Game. The company was also behind the hits Pulp Fiction and Shakespeare in Love.

Pyramid

Saturday, April 10, 2010

By Claire

I always loved that game show. Guessing words and categories with contestants paired with celebrities, the show became a huge hit in the 1970s with host Dick Clark. Did you ever see the Friends episode where Joey was a guest on the show? Hilarious but I digress. CBS is moving forward with a pilot of he show to replace As the World Turns which will be ending in September.

By Claire

Adrian Grenier's (who plays Vince on Entourage) documentary film, Teenage Paparazzo, has been picked up by HBO. Very cool. The film was an official selection at Sundance. It's about a true story of a 14 year old paparazzo'a relationship with Grenier. The film also includes interviews with Paris Hilton, Matt Damon, Eva Longoria Parker, Alec Baldwin, Whoopi Goldberg, historians, bloggers and others. Sounds very interesting. Will you watch?
