Just saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and it was very good. Close to 3 hours it was a bit long, but I understand the need to cover a lot of ground and keep in as many details as possible. I liked the dark atmosphere of the movie and the way it was filmed. Looking forward to Part II to wrap the series up in 2011.

Wow. What a film. It is based on the true story of Valerie Plame Wilson, the covert CIA agent who was outed in an article about her husband, Joe Wilson. The movie is a mix of politics and behind the scenes CIA, including a look at the life of a CIA agent's family and her friendships. The real news clips from the media story interspersed throughout the film is a cool touch.
Just saw this movie last night. Very interesting. Great acting and character development. It tackles a subject matter that I don't think would have been the topic of a movie when us Gen Xers were in high school which made watching the movie all the more fascinating.
Have you noticed that the Allstate commercials with Dean Winters are ubiquitous? No matter what you are watching - they are on. Went to see a movie today- an Allstate commercial aired in the theater before the movie. Allstate even sponsored the Northwestern/Illinois football game at Wrigley Field yesterday and commercials were shown throughout the broadcast. Just wanted to know if anyone else noticed.
Just saw Due Date with Robert Downey, Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. It had some funny lines and scenes, but not a laugh a minute. It's really an updated version of Planes, Trains & Automobiles with Steve Martin and the late John Candy (one of my favorite movies of all time btw). I like both actors a lot, but I don't think the characters gelled with one another to make it a really fun/great movie. There were a couple cool cameos by Jamie Foxx and Juliette Lewis, but their talents weren't really used effectively for their scenes - their parts could have been played by anyone...

Saw this wild movie last night. Tons of cameos and wacky, raunchy as anything moments. A highlight for me was seeing Rose Byrne of Damages fame, play a bad girl/partier/rocker/girlfriend of rockers role. I didn't even recognize her at first. Did you see this movie. Thoughts?
According to the Global Language Monitor survey, "vuvuzela", "spillcam" and the made-up word "refudiate" are among the top words of 2010. Lady Gaga, 3-D, and "Jersey Shore" also made the list. The results are found from tracking the frequency of words and phrases in the English speaking world using a math formula. For more of the top words, click here.
How wild is this? There are new touch-screen Coca Cola machines that have 106 potential flavor combinations. Check it out.

Saw Sarah Silverman perform and answer some questions in a Q&A recently. She is so wrong yet you can't help but laugh at some of the outrageous, raunchy as anything, no holds barred things she says. No topic is off limits. Very unassuming, no frills, and totally chill -- you would never know how successful she is by the way she carries herself. Definitely a polarizing comedienne - are you a fan?
M.C. Hammer, whose real name is Stanley Burrell, worked for Charlie Finley when he was owner of the Oakland A's. Burrell, at a young age, impressed Finley so much that he was promoted to honorary vice president of the A's. Cool stuff! Check out this write-up of the new biography of Finley.
is the real name of legendary Tina Turner. A little fun trivia I just heard and wanted to share.

Jamie Chung, who appeared in The Real World: San Diego back in 2003, has just been cast in The Hangover 2 as Ed Helms' fiancee. I find this particularly interesting news today since today is election day and Sean Duffy from 1997's The Real World: Boston (who is married to and has 6 kids with Rachel from the Real World: San Francisco -- yes that's the one with Puck) is running to be a representative from Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives. As a Real World watcher (my roommate got me addicted in college) it's fascinating stuff. Any favorite Real Worlders?
A very random thing happened yesterday. Watched the movie W., which deals a lot with the relationship between President George W. Bush and his father, their presidencies, and passion for baseball and the Rangers. The movie ended, the World Series was turned on, and there they were riding in on the Rangers' field before game 4. Had no idea that was going to happen. It was so wacky having just finished the movie and to then see them live in that setting. Did you see the movie?
Saw the movie Freakonomics, based on the best-selling book. It was fascinating. I have to admit that I have not read the book, however that said, I thought the film was cool as it portrayed Steven Levitt (the economist) and Stephen Dubner (the journalist) discussing their thoughts behind the concepts in the book/film. It also illustrates the trends, statistics and factors mentioned in all sorts of interesting ways.
Born in the 70s, they grew up together. They are both fascinated by all things pop culture. They are into tv, movies and music from comedies to dramas to rock. She likes sports and he likes science fiction. He focuses on all things future while she harps on the past. Together they ponder it all on GenXReflects.com
